TUESDAY UPDATE: Climate Conference in disarray after yet another leak, this time the Danish text leak. Also, is green the new Marxism?
TRUE BELIEVERS FROM 192 countries got the man-made climate change propaganda Monday in Copenhagen. But mostly this conference is preaching to the choir. Meanwhile many mainstream Americans are defecting and turning their backs on the religion of AGW. However, that does not mean we are turning our backs on being good stewards of the environment and the earth. It also does not mean we don't think the earth may be going through a warming cycle. On the other hand, some think we're moving into cooling temps.

One inconvenient fact that seems to be missing from CRU email controversy (the conservative 'war on Gore') is that is the most recent of these controversial emails is more than 10 yrs old "Decline" refers to unreliable tree ring data, not actual global temperatures.
Ellen, I beg to differ with you. According to many sources, these emails spanned many years and covered a wide-range of subjects. For instance, Wikipedia says among many other sources,
"The stolen material comprised more than 1,000 e-mails, 2,000 documents, as well as commented Fortran source code, pertaining to climate change research covering a period from 1996 until 2009.[32] Some of the e-mails included discussions of how to combat the arguments of climate change sceptics, unflattering comments about sceptics, queries from journalists, drafts of scientific papers,[9] and discussions that some pundits and commentators believe advocate keeping scientists who have contrary views out of peer-review literature,[6] and destroying various files in order to prevent data being revealed under the Freedom of Information Act.[10] In an interview with The Guardian, Phil Jones confirmed that the e-mails that had sparked the most controversy appeared to be genuine.[18]
This is not called the greatest science scandal for nothing....especially because of mistaken information on tree rings.... sorry.
And BTW, you need to cite your sources next time.
....even when your source is Al himself, and even when he is quite mistaken.
I'm going to blow my own horn here, and quote from my blog piece What's this "Climategate" fuss all about? ...
This is NOT just a scandal of a few purloined emails; it is the perversion of science to cold-bloodily create propaganda, to justify putting the government in complete totalitarian control of our industries, our economy, nearly every detail of how we live.
...
What's at the bottom of all this?
Pure naked power.
When I used that last line in a comment on Redstate, another commenter replied, "Don't forget the money angel, Paul", thus giving me the title and subject of my follow-up post, in which I gave him full credit and wrote...
He noted correctly that money and power go together, and singled out Al Gore as a prime example. I have no argument whatsoever with his observation.
BUT...
With the High Priests of this new religion, money is incidental.
Simple greed can be reasoned with, bargained with, and/or bought off.
Messianism cannot.
With power, you can get the money. The reverse doesn't always hold true. With real power comes control, to a degree of which money can only daydream.
Therefore, I'm inclined to stand by "Pure naked power" as the driving force behind this whole issue.

Thank you Paul. Great points.
The stakes at Copenhagen are high. The peer reviewed science has only firmed since Kyoto. "Ha!" There is now a consensus that the level of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that the atmosphere can bear before warming triggers unpredictable and potentially catastrophic changes to the global climate system is considerably lower. "Ha!"
Climate scientists who only a decade ago would have argued that the amount of greenhouse gas should be 550 parts per million, now argue that even 450pmm may be too much.

If, as some have said, conservatives are ruled by facts and liberals by emotions, one would be hard-put to find a better illustration of the aphorism than popular radio talk-show host Phil Valentine's The Conservative's Handbook: Defining the Right Positions on Issues from A to Z. Initially his A-to-Z issues were developed as a primer to be posted on his Web site to bring his audience up to speed with today's events. When they proved so popular and informative with his audience, he realized he had struck a responsive chord, that the realities he had outlined spoke to a great number of people.
The Conservative's Handbook provides a conservative viewpoint on a wide range of ideas. Among them are guns, global warming, drugs, partial birth abortion, education, political correctness, entrepreneurs, and the wisdom of Ronald Reagan. In doing so, it covers the hot issues of today as well as perennial topics of interest. The knowledge he imparts is more than just information. It's ammunition for conservatives when they are caught up in discussions with friends and arguments with those on the Left.

Thank you, Calvin.
Sorry,
Game over

"E-mails stolen from climate scientists show they stonewalled skeptics and discussed hiding data — but the messages don't support claims that the science of global warming was faked, according to an exhaustive review by The Associated Press."
ABC and the AP. If they say it's so, then it must really be so....they're the last word..
