We had a local minister who got national coverage predicting the end of the world recently. One of my Lefy friends, basically a good guy, was complaining that when people messed up like that, there never seemed to be any consequences. I said I agreed there should be consequences, but then there would be no Liberals and few Democrats not in prison. The look he gave me was not so much incredulity, but incomprehension. Apparently it has never occurred to him that anyone except the Right was ever wrong.
It never ceases to amaze me Treg, how differently two people can view reality given the same set of facts.
A very good friend told me that even when using the same set of facts that he can decipher what is really being said or what is really going on because of the "dog whistle" statement or implication used by a conservative. By knowing said "dog whistle" uses he can tell that conservatives are racist, homophobic, etc.
He's a good friend?? Your good friend??
Sorry it has been a while, but work (the good kind) kept me away. This is a friend of over 45 years who has turned radical in the last year or two. It is driving me nuts, but he was my Best Man.
Oh, I see. Sounds like my oldest friend Pat who died this summer, only she turned radical much longer ago! We remained friends in spite ofour differences though it wasn't always easy!
I understand why it drives you crazy.
