UPDATE: Peggy Noonan writes They're (We're) Paying Attention Now.
Biden is nothing if not direct, giving voice to whatever he thinks in many uncertain terms:
"If I'm the nominee, Republicans will be sorry.... The next Republican that tells me I'm not religious I'm going to shove my rosary beads down their throat.... And we have played into the hands of the Republicans. We've allowed so-called social issues to be so divisive."
--Joe Biden, October 22, 2005
“I mean, you got the first mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”
----Joe Biden, on Obama running for president
And then there's the Biden quote about being from Delaware, a former slave state, and therefore having rapport with all us poor wretched southern former slave state citizens, still trying to live---I'm left to suppose---in the lost glory of pre-Civil War days.........

Here's McCain's position on Joe Biden's selection today:
“I think he's a good selection,” McCain said. “Joe and I have been friends for many, many years, and we know each other very well, and so I think he's made a very wise selection. I know that Joe will campaign well for Sen. Obama, and so I think he's going to be very formidable. Obviously, Joe and I have been on different philosophical sides, but we have been — I consider him a good friend and a good man.”
As to Biden's comments about religion, one can only assume he's like millions and millions of Americans, tired of being told we aren't religious enough, or patriotic enough, or love America enough, or whatever the flavor of the day conservatives tag us non-patriots with.
As for quotes, how about this one:
"It is that fundamental belief -- It is that fundamental belief: I am my brother’s keeper. I am my sister’s keeper that makes this country work. It’s what allows us to pursue our individual dreams and yet still come together as one American family.
Now even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us -- the spin masters, the negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of "anything goes." Well, I say to them tonight, there is not a liberal America and a conservative America -- there is the United States of America. There is not a Black America and a White America and Latino America and Asian America -- there’s the United States of America.
The pundits, the pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I’ve got news for them, too. We worship an "awesome God" in the Blue States, and we don’t like federal agents poking around in our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and yes, we’ve got some gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and there are patriots who supported the war in Iraq.
We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America."
In regards to the video of this post: I saw the same scenario play out tonight when Michael Dukakis was asked to name some of Obama's accomplishments - NADA~!
