What Drugs, Sex,Cigarettes, Alcohol, Rock & Roll and the Occult Did to A Former Beauty Over Past 40 Years

SHE WAS ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS ROCK CHICKS AND PARTY GIRLS OF THE 60s and 70s. Glamorous lover to Rolling Stones Brian Jones, then Keith Richards, Anita Pallenberg lived the life so many of today's sports and celebrity groupies/ wannabes only dream of.

What did she get for forty years of hard living with a group of famous, debauched boy-men who play music? I could pontificate, but why bother? A picture speaks volumes and worth thousands and thousands of words. Scroll down and see for yourself. We can be glad that we were never so fortunate.

Looking tough-as-nails, haggard, rode hard and older than her 65 years, Anita Pallenberg, erstwhile rock goddess, takes a hard drag during her daily outing to the store for more cigarettes and who knows what. Daily Mail has story and photos. The short version: living this life takes its toll, takes a mighty toll.

What a shame, being with guys who play music. Too bad she couldn't have found better company.... people with real careers, because everyone knows, all musicians take drugs.

(The real shame is that she didn't find a real career herself).

Actually, William, no one thinks ALL musicians take drugs....no insult intended. But certainly the lifestyle of those early r&r bands, espesially on the worldwide road, had to be about as rough and wild as it ever gets.

Those recent pictures of Jagger are pretty scary, as well.

It also reminds me that there is such a very thin line for women between looking nice for one's age (I don't mean botoxed and face-lifted) and looking like a homeless person (no offense intended to the homeless). The use of good hair products, skin products, not smoking, wearing clothes that fit well - all play a role in appearance, especially as age advances. Pallenberg looks as though she no longer cares.

Yes, as if she's given up on everything, but perhaps having that next cigarette.

At least one other item to your list for aging gracefully....good posture. Never has it been easier to slack into neanderthal looking mode what with sitting in front of computers so much of the time. I constantly have to watch it and remind myself to sit up and stand up straight, do some stretches during the day....

Oh, yes, it's so true about posture - the computer posture can be very damaging.

I was just now thinking about my sister, who remains a lifelong smoker. In spite of the skin damage and the excess weight she's put on, she still looks very attractive partly because she does use good posture.

I would also add that it is possible to purchase inexpensive products or clothing to look nice for one's age. I've found realsimple.com to be a good resource.

Fraydna, what a wonderful idea... Thank you!! have never seen the realsimple site and just bookmarked it....think having good, well fitting basics is important at any age especially now....love the post on "The Most Versatile Pieces to Have in Your Closet" and the black button down shirts! I have a dark gray blouse that I wear constantly like that....like a uniform.

To digress back to Anita...I think cigarettes are the most damaging to a woman's looks and health of anything else. My mother died of leukemia when she was 51, and we were holding her cigarettes for her to the end until she went into a coma several days before she died. It is a wicked addiction and I hear the hardest of all to break for good.
