WHAT A GAME! What a turnaround! Vanderbilt beat Fullerton today in a College World Series game it was certainly not winning last night before lightning and rain shut it down. The Dores got a reprieve today. Details below:
MAHA, Neb. -- All it took was a little rain to keep Vanderbilt’s reign as defending national champions alive.
That, and some late-inning magic in the form of Jeren Kendall walk-off home run.
After trailing by three runs to Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, the game was suspended due to rain and lightning in the bottom of the sixth with a runner on third, two outs, and a full count on Zander Wiel.
“Certainly coming into today was a reset situation for us, and we kind of set it up that way,” said head coach Tim Corbin, who had his team switch from black uniforms to white uniforms. “We knew it was going to be a different scenario on mound and we knew we needed to attack and we responded very well.”
