Nashville Fashion Week Just As Pretentious, Pouty and Absurd As Any Other

HOW BOUT A COUPLE OF THESE to dash by Whole Foods to pick up a salad bar or buy some pork tenderloin? Maybe I should have worn it to my accountants' yesterday. Or Sunday to the early service. My kids with their kiddos are coming home Thursday for the long weekend---perhaps I could greet them at the door and scare them all to death. The possibilities are endless. Still, if it's your cup of hemlock, here are a few links to Nashville's so called, grandiose Fashion Week Carnival of the Vanities. Here. And here. Oh! Don't forget the death squad stillettos when you're running to the hardware.

Just the kind of impractical absurdity---and frankly gender violence---the fashionistas seem to think we need to complete us while killing us at the same time. What planet do these designers live on?

Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, 'Fashion Week' and gender violence is shaping up a little differently: From the WSJPhotos, A woman receives treatment for burns in Herat, Afghanistan, Tuesday. Some independent human-rights watchdog groups and other organizations say gender violence has reached an alarming level there. (Jalil Rezayee/European Pressphoto Agency) Here from the same source, these Somalian women hunger for something to eat as they adorn themselves with tin plates and wait in line for anything they can get from non-governmental humanitarian groups.

I love the top photo.

All that's lacking is a sword slung across her back. :-)

Yes, and real dirt under her nails.
