IT WAS EASY TO SEE THE TERRIBLE FIRE SEASON COMING, EVEN THIS SPRING WITH SO LITTLE SNOW ACCUMULATION LAST WINTER IN THE WEST. I've lived through many of these seasons and mercifully decided to give my lungs a break this year. My heart goes out to those in harms way and others who suffer with effects of this toxic smoke. It won't be much better until the snow flies and who knows when that will be. UPDATE ON WESTERN FIRES.

Indeed. On my last trip west, well after the fact, I drove through the area of the Arizona "Wallow Fire," near Springerville. The smoke was gone, though you could get a whiff if you kicked a burned log or a pile of ashes. The devastation was heartbreaking, especially seeing where one building survived, and another a short distance away was reduced to ashes.
Very sad. And who wants to move back and live in a devastated neighborhood with a charred view for years, if not decades?
