WHATEVER GROUND TRUMP HAS LOST OVER THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS, he has certainly helped regain some footing over the past few days with a couople of good policy speeches, a long-overdue apology and, now, his and Mike Pence's improvised tour to hurting and devastated people in southern Louisiana, many of whom have lost most of their material worldy possessions.

Donald Trump wore the white hat Friday — one of his “Make America Great Again” hats, naturally — as he landed in flood-battered Baton Rouge to tour the damage and take a more-than-subliminal swipe at President Obama and Hillary Clinton, who have yet to visit victims.
Joined by his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence for a hastily-planned, three-hour visit, the GOP candidate toured flood damage in a motorcade and got a warm welcome at a Baptist church in East Baton Rouge Parish.
These people need our prayers and absolutely anything we can think of to contribute to them. May God bless and have mercy on them all.

Thank you so much for the link to Dreher's excellent site and posts - did not know he lived in Louisiana. This event brings back such strong memories of our experience here 6 years ago, and yet it is on a much larger scale. I remember well how ignored we felt then, and no, Mr. President, sending Janet Napolitano was not the same as showing up yourself. To be fair, though, even people in our neighborhood two blocks away were unaware that homes on our street were flooded!
We have been privileged to learn of two families affected there through our daughter and a close friend and are now able to pay forward the help that in God's grace came our way in 2010.
We cannot imagine the magnitude of loss and devastation in the Baton Rouge area and know full well the initial shock and later the long slow slog to recovery. God be with them all.
What a wonderful comment, Fraydna! No one knows the kinds of sufferings that come from this type of natural disaster more than you and you rwonderful husband! And from that to help others now going through this same catastrophe exhibits the Grace and Glory of God.
Good can and does come after the deluge in so many ways.
