A RUNAWAY MISSILE THE SIZE OF THE CHRYSLER BUILDING?
In terms of length, it could be a lot more than that.
I've learned from counting, at railroad crossings, that if a freight train has 4 locomotive units pulling, it'll typically have 100 to 115 cars. Averaging around 50 feet per car, you're looking at a mile-long train, maybe 10,000 tons in all (100 tons per car is not out of the question).
On one hand, a hefty size missile speeding on land. On the other hand, a pipsqueak compared to the tonnage of a cargo ship.
Possible sequel: "Runaway Ship" (No; wait! They already did that with "Speed II" (So?!!!) :-)

Probably more info-trivia than you wanted.
