I Feel Like A Rusty Spinner

A REAL WOMAN WITH GUTS DEFINES HERSELF WITH THE CATHOLICS AND LETS THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY--ONE GREAT DAME IN MY OPINION.
A RUSTY SPINNER is a spent, almost dead mayfly called a Hendrickson. Trout love to slurp 'em any time of the day or night. I won't bore my few readers with the life cycles and love lives of acquatic insects, except to say I'm sore and tired today like one of those little bugs in the last stages of its happy life on the river. I'm tired and spent. The seven men I'm here with and I have fished hard for two days into night. Few fish have been caught, fewer netted and released due to heavy winds. This is not in the group but with every fisherman I talked to.

All this to say that they don't call the Upper Delaware one of the toughest river systems in America to fly fish for nothing. Simply unbelievable. And yet, yesterday was a wonderful day. The guides are top-notch. My fishing partner and I were "worked over" by our guide. In one day of exhaustive casting long distances in varying winds and angles, this guide coached, badgered, intimidated and otherwise worked me nearly to death yesterday. I am and will be a better fly fisherwoman as a result of getting my cast back on track. It's just amazing what bad habits a person can get in. But one day on the river with a much better, stronger fisherman/caster is a day well spent. Well, well worth the price of admission.

But even after a good night's sleep, I'm almost too tired and sore to fish or write today. It's a good tired though.
