Quote of the Day: For Hillary, Love, Karl

"The conventional wisdom now is that Hillary Clinton will be the next president. In reality, she's eminently beatable. Her contentious history evokes unpleasant memories. She lacks her husband's political gifts and rejects much of the centrism he championed. The health-care fiasco showed her style and ideology. All of which helps explain why, for a front runner in an open race for the presidency, she has the highest negatives in history."

Karl Rove, Newsweek, November 26, 2007 issue

  2. Quote of the day:

Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan writes in his new book, "What Happened:"

"The most powerful leader in the world had called upon me to speak on his behalf and help restore credibility he lost amid the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. So I stood at the White house briefing room podium in front of the glare of the klieg lights for the better part of two weeks and publicly exonerated two of the senior-most aides in the White House: Karl Rove and Scooter Libby. There was one problem. It was not true. I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the vice President, the President's chief of staff, and the president himself."

    Got that?

Scott McClellan confirms today that Bush lied and deliberately hid the identity of an administration official who leaked the identity of CIA operative, Valerie Plame, causing significant damage to US efforts to keep Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.

Essentially, one of Bush's top aids has confirmed that President G.W. Bush has committed treason in an effort to discredit a war critic. It is a criminal offense to protect someone who leaks intelligence information damaging to the security of the USA, thus aiding an enemy in a time of war.

  3. Well, Ellen, we shall see what we shall see, shaltn't we? I'm sure the leftists up there in Capitol Hill country where you live, already have the gallows prepared and the execution sentence gleefully in place.

I'm a bit more circumspect about all this, myself.
