UPDATE: ORDINARY CHRISTIAN WORK @ Tim Challies
PRAYING FOR THE BIDEN FAMILY FOR THEIR VERY SAD LOSS OF BEAU
I BELIEVE IN GOD, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy apostolic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

This beautiful creed is called the Apostles' Creed not because it was produced by the apostles themselves but because it contains a brief summary of their teachings. It sets forth their doctrine "in sublime simplicity, in unsurpassable brevity, in beautiful order, and with liturgical solemnity." In its present form it is dated no later than the fourth century. More than any other Christian creed, it may justly be called an ecumenical symbol of faith. This translation of the Latin text was approved by the CRC Synod of 1988.

Yikes! That could be me.
What a relief that young women might be coming back to true value and the real and more enduring things in life!
Could it be that in the process of wearing white, cotton hip-huggers, these women could be transformed into more conservative sexual beings who value their virginity and feminine mysteries more than quick-and-easy serial romps-in-the-hay? And in doing so, might they bring up the value of their feminism and also traditional sex within marriage?
We can only wait and hope.

JUST A QUICK NOTE TO SAY I'm recovering from a nasty fall on the SoHo last weekend. I injured my left wrist when I tried to catch myself as I slipped on some very slick rocks as I exited the river and the coldest water I've ever been in. Essentially I now have the use of only one hand, wrist and arm. Pain has been incredible but starting to get better. All those young weight lifters and baseball players I was with diagnosed my injury perfectly....and a doctor yesterday confirmed it.
I am very grateful that this wasn't worse. Will be back at some point, but for now enjoying the rest and ibuprofen relaxation. Doctor said to switch to ALEVE.
Above, the scene of the crime and the slickest river rocks I've ever attempted to traverse.

Assisted Suicide: One Woman's Journey From A Death Wish To Life
FROM THE DAILY SIGNAL, a heartening story of one woman's decision to take the easy way out until her persistent, life-affirming physician persuaded her to reconsider her choice to die. Today, she is cancer-free and very happy to be alive.
When states legalize assisted suicide laws to help people to avoid suffering, we can never know how many people die prematurely and tragically. All such laws---especially abortion----are over-used with unknown and often tragic consequences down the road to families and loved ones.
One other thing that has always bothered me is the notion that all suffering in this life, must be anesthetized and eradicated. Life is tough and painful at times for all of us. But God can and does give our suffering meaning and context, if we let Him .

I'd Like You To Meet My New Honorary Grandbaby
THIS PRECIOUS LITTLE GIRL WAS BORN ON MY 39TH BIRTHDAY, A FEW DAYS AGO.
Her name is Melody Rose. Please join me in praying for her, her darling, single mother, her wonderful grandmother and grandfather and her brother.
There is no lack of love, excitement and prayer for this little girl, but many strikes of poor health and poverty against her and her brave mother. Only by the power of Jesus Christ will she and her precious family continue to survive and prosper---one day at a time. They need our prayers. They need our continuing prayers. Melody Rose needs lifting up.
Thank you, thank you, thank you in advance.

Abe's Garden Continues To Go Its Own Way Without Regard For the Court or Our Court Proceedings
THE WAY WE WERE VERSES THE WAY WE ARE NOW. Abe's Garden is doing whatever it pleases without regard to our lawsuit and the court's direction. It's been that way since the start when former mayor Bill Purcel went over to our former attorney and said they were going to do whatever they pleased and there was nothing we could do about it. If they don't get their way, well then tough...they'll strong arm their way no matter what.
Of course we've never tried to stop anything about this development....but rather hold on to our backyard which has been taken. along with every stick of vegetation. Now they're jumping the gun and arbitrarily building a retaining wall without waiting for our dispute to be settled. Seems very unwise to me.... They proceed now at their risk and the real possibility of having to redo it.
We'll see what happens.

How I Agree With Catherine Deneuve, A Class Act Says Indiscretion and Selfies Make Stars Lives Dreadfully Banal and Boring
UPDATE: THE LONG-TERM DANGERS OF SEXTING
SHOCKING UPDATE: PUBLIC POLICY DECISIONS MADE IN BALTIMORE OVER 100 YEARS AGO---MANDATING SEGREGATION---HAVE CREATED THE RACIAL MESS AND RIOTS OF TODAY
THERE WAS A TIME LONG AGO when discretion was the better part of valor and one's private life remained mostly private.
Today, 'stars' themselves have become their own non-stop promoters who attract the lowest common denominators in prurient audiences. Nothing is left to the imagination. Catherine speaks correctly about our narcissistic culture with its immature pop stars who are in our faces 24/7 but have done absolutely nothing to deserve our attention:
Deveuve looks terrific and continues to get better with age. What a dame.

What praytell have any of the Kardashians ever done other than show skin and disgrace to society while encouraging young people to think they are worthy role models.Paris (AFP) - Selfies and social media have been the death of film stars, iconic French actress Catherine Deneuve said in an interview published Sunday."There are no more stars in France," the 71-year-old bemoaned just days before her latest film "La Tete Haute" (Standing Tall) opens this year's Cannes Film Festival out of competition. The doyenne of French cinema was speaking to the Journal du Dimanche newspaper about her glittering film career, which has made her one of her country's best known actresses abroad.Deneuve gave short shrift to a new generation of celebrities addicted to social media."A star is someone who must show themselves only a little and remain discreet. With the introduction of the digital age there is an intrusion of everything, everywhere, all the time," she said.

Mother's Day----A Mother's Great Prayer, Psalm of Hannah After She Bears A Son Named Samuel
MOTHER'S DAY SEES SPIKE IN CALLS FOR HELP AT ADDICTION CENTERS
Hannah’s Psalm
Hannah’s Psalm
1 SAMUEL: 1 Then Hannah prayed and said, “My heart exults in
the LORD; My horn is exalted in the LORD, My mouth speaks boldly against
my enemies, Because I rejoice in Thy salvation.
2 “There is no one holy like the LORD, Indeed, there is no one besides Thee, Nor is there any rock like our God. 3 “Boast no more so very proudly, Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; For the LORD is a God of knowledge, And with Him actions are weighed. 4 “The bows of the mighty are shattered, But the feeble gird on strength. 5 “Those who were full hire themselves out for bread, But those who were hungry cease to hunger. Even the barren gives birth to seven, But she who has many children languishes. 6 “The LORD kills and makes alive; He brings down to Sheol and raises up. 7 “The LORD makes poor and rich; He brings low, He also exalts. 8 “He raises the poor from the dust, He lifts the needy from the ash heap To make them sit with nobles, And inherit a seat of honor; For the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, And He set the world on them. 9 “He keeps the feet of His godly ones, But the wicked ones are silenced in darkness; For not by might shall a man prevail. 10 “Those who contend with the LORD will be shattered; Against them He will thunder in the heavens, The LORD will judge the ends of the earth; And He will give strength to His king, And will exalt the horn of His anointed.”

Favorable Ruling In Chancery Court This Week--- I'm Still Standing!
FROM NASHVILLE POST (behind subscription pay wall until Sunday)
HALLELUJAH FOR RULING THAT PUTS OUR LAWSUIT BACK ON TRACK AFTER COUNTLESS DELAYS. At issue was my personal legal STANDING to bring this lawsuit in Chancery Court---outside my homeowners association which had neither the political will nor the financial means to bring this legal action.
In other words, my board rolled over to these big shot developers who count on these little boards rolling over and not wanting to tangle with them. It's happening all over the city. Unfortunately they hadn't counted on me taking up the cause and hiring one of the finest lawyer in the SE. So, thanks be to God, I, one of the little people, is still standing.
Also, this has favorable legal ramifications far beyond my and our personal gain. It helps lots of little people property owners in a city of big developers who would run roughshod over them.
Now, Gino, let's bring this-here lawsuit in for a successful landing this summer during a three-day trial and let the massive damage and suffering my neighbors and I have endured begin to end so we can start to heal from this nightmare.
It's ALL Grace for which I am eternally, deeply and humbly grateful. Have a great weekend!

John Tamny---Stop Excusing Thuggery in Baltimore With Nonsense and Tired, False Narrative!
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY, JOHN. Letting black, racist terrorists and professional race agitators take over cities like Baltimore with immature, violent excuses that the world needs to do more, more, more for them, only assures more mayhem and chaos and less economic opportunity and job creation.
Nothing is ever enough when you never take responsibility for thuggery. Tamny writes: The weak economic growth/inequality/poverty excuses given for last week's looting in western Baltimore were an insult to the majority of residents there not prone to acting like thugs. They also ignored basic market signals that remind us the U.S. is where poverty is cured, not where it becomes permanent. If the latter weren't true, foreigners not lucky enough to even know English wouldn't regularly risk their lives trying to make it to the U.S. and its abundant opportunity. They've generally arrived from much worse than anything experienced in the U.S., yet they don't use their past to explain horrid actions in the present. Let's stop excusing barbarism.
*****************************************
Amid the recent rioting in Baltimore, apologists for the looters have attempted to justify the rampaging for it supposedly being economic in nature. To believe the defenders of the indefensible, those bent on the destruction of an already sagging city are ripping it apart due to a lack of opportunity. Perpetually stuck in poverty, the rioters are allegedly expressing their frustration about conditions they cannot escape.
Sorry, but that’s just not going to cut it.
To understand why, we need only stop to consider what is easily the purest market signal of all: where people around the world are moving, or better yet, where they would like to move. The migratory patterns of human beings are pregnant with information about where economic opportunity is, and as evidenced by abundant inflows of immigrants to the U.S. relative to tiny outflows, the United States is where poverty is cured.
If poverty were truly an inescapable fact of American life, the world’s huddled masses would have long ago ceased coming here. Interesting about the world’s ambitious who continue to make their way to the U.S., and often from desperate situations that those lucky enough to have been born in the U.S. happily can’t comprehend, many arrive here without any reasonable understanding of the English language. Despite this obvious hindrance to upward mobility in the workplace, these new arrivals still manage to make it, and do so without voicing with violent hands what they can’t express in irritated English.
For those who were born here, and who know English for having been born here, excuses are limited. Most of the world’s inhabitants would give anything to live in the U.S.precisely because it’s still the land of economic opportunity, so to excuse the revolting actions of the native-born as understandable communications of economic frustration is not credible. It’s entirely possible the Baltimore police acted in hideous fashion toward Freddie Gray, but one egregious error doesn’t justify what’s unfolding on television.
Others have blamed inequality as a significant reason for the rioting. Sure enough, the western part of Baltimore is very run down relative to much of the rest of the city, not to mention much of the rest of the United States.
The inequality argument is perhaps intriguing at first glance, but lest we forget, those arebusinesses that are in flames on our TVs. Inequality in any society is most often the result of entrepreneurs having met an unmet economic need of those not quite so flush. Having opened up to serve an underserved – and less equal – part of Baltimore, its residents have given those now-smoldering businesses their fists.
Perhaps more notably, out of those businesses we’re seeing thieves walking away with all manner of products that they apparently deem desirable. Many are wealthy today for having created these goods at affordable prices for residents of historically underserved areas, but after this week will those entrepreneurs continue to ship their goods to places where they’ll possibly be stolen?
What about the cellphones that the allegedly dis-possessed all seem to have in the most depressed part of Baltimore? Back in the early ‘80s only the superrich had handheld phones that were the size of a brick, had terrible reception for even local calls (it was waytoo expensive to call out of state), had ½ hour of battery life, and that set the rich back$3,995. Yes there’s more inequality today, and the signal that we’re more unequal in terms of wealth has to do with how many formerly luxurious baubles of the rich are now owned by Americans of all income classes. Inequality is about raising the standard of living of those not rich.
Back to the lack of local economic opportunity that supposedly justifies the grotesque, forgotten by the looter-apologists seemingly willing to excuse anything is the simple reality that there are no companies and no jobs without investment first. Applied to Baltimore, investors have a choice when they consider where to commit capital.
Along the lines of the above, capital migrates to where it’s treated well, to where it’s relatively safe, and to where demand is abundant. In the past week, investors have seen businesses burned down by the same locals intent on robbing those businesses. What this has told them is that capital is neither treated well nor is it safe in western Baltimore. Demand? One can only demand something insofar as he or she supplies something first, but as the news reports reveal, demand for some is a one-way street. Is it any wonder that the investors who create all the jobs aren’t interested in western Baltimore?
Without excusing for even a second the possibility that Baltimore police more than crossed the line with Gray, a surely loud minority of Baltimore’s population has put on a horrid show these in recent days that will rob a peaceful majority of already slim economic opportunity. Specifically, a collection of thugs has told the very investors who create all the jobs to Drop Dead.

Psalm 51:12---A Very Short Prayer For Our Dullest Days
PSALM 51
HERE'S A WONDERFUL, SHORT PRAYER FROM PSALM 51 FOR TIMES it seems we've lost our groove and spiritual enthusiasm. Praying Scripture is effective because we're praying God's own words.
Tony Reinke at Desiring God writes about this short, powerful prayer:
On the days when my heart feels dull, dry, and drowsy, I turn to one simple prayer from David in Psalm 51:12 —
Refresh my joy — God, I need you to remind me again of the lengths in which you have gone to save my sinful soul. Remind me again of the holy wrath I deserve, so that I can rejoice again in the precious mercy that has saved me. Cause this joy to overpower the dullness I feel right now.
Restore my allegiance — God, my heart is dull because my loyalties are wrong. I long for ease and comfort and for human praise, which empty my soul. As I acknowledge my sin, re-align my allegiances to your name and re-commit my devotion to your glory. Give me a “right spirit” (Psalm 51:10).
Grant me willing obedience — God, help me obey you today, not compelled by obligation, but willed by your Spirit within me. I desperately want to obey you and to experience the joy of obedience. I need a free and willing spirit — I need your free and willing Spirit. Uphold me in this, I pray.
In my own words: God, refresh my joy, restore my fidelity, and grant me the freeness to obey you today.
This is a very short prayer I return to on my dullest days.
****** I couldn't agree more and the only thing I would add is to pray that prayer and to ask God to restore us to the joy of his salvation for His Glory.

IT'S BEEN ANOTHER TREMENDOUSLY BUSY WEEK AS THE WEATHER HAS FINALLY TURNED SUNNY. I find myself more and more offline, enjoying real community, friendships, work and exercise in the real world. Clearly this doesn't bode well for my site as spring and summer unfold.
This piece caught my eye today and think it's worth linking to: Is Twitter Losing Its Influence As It's Seen More and More As A Force For Social Destruction? I'm not on it---simply never had the time or interest. But if I had been, I'm sure I'd be finding it a huge bore at this point. The grand age of the Internet is so waning for me and it's taking a smaller and smaller part of my life and interest.
